Lakagígar - Langisjór - Landmannalaugar

This tour will take you over the beautiful area of Lakagígar, a crater chain that erupted in 1783, being the largest discharge caused by volcanic activity ever to have been witnessed. For several months Iceland was enveloped in clouds of poisonous gases, killing about three quarters of Iceland´s livestock. The population also suffered severe famine. From Lakagígar we fly over Landmannalaugar, the beautiful valley between the mountains, before returning back to Skaftafell. On this tour passengers see glaciers, vulcan´s and the beautiful landscape north of Mýrdalsjökull.
