Year 2013 greetings.
Feb 5, 2013Dear friends and all of you visiting us in Skaftafell over the years as well as those visiting our webpage for the first time. We wish you a happy new year and we hope to see you all again, if not this in 2013 then perhaps next year. The 2013 season is coming and actually this winter has been very busy and that only means that the tourist season is extending more and more over to be a fulltime operation for us who work in this line of work. This is good news as our beautiful country has so much to give all year around and for many winter weather and adventures can be just as exciting as the summer season for some. Atlantsflug will be speeding its wings further this season and we will be providing more options and locations for those who dream of seeing Iceland from above. We will publish on our web page news and exciting information about this new service in March-April, but the general concept is to have a flying taxi in the area between Reykjavik and Skaftafell Airport that can pick you up on different locations and give you tours on the day the weather is perfect where you are. Also if you want to be flown between hotels and enjoy the scenery from the air rather than drive or take the bus then give us call and we come for you. News on Skaftafell opening in summer 2011
May 29, 2011Now only one week after the eruption started in Grimsvötn at Vatnajökull glacier everything is getting back to normal. The eruption ended as swiftly as when it started. Atlantsflug plans to be up and running with our Skaftafell operation by next weekend that is on June 4th if weather and related factors turns out in our favor. For those of you planning a visit then this summer we will be able to offer a unique opportunity to fly over the Grimsvotn eruption area because never before have we had so much to show during our summer season. We are looking forward to see you this summer.
Volcano Eruption at Vatnajökull.
May 21, 2011Today at around 19:00 a powerful volcanic eruption started at Lake Grísvötn on Vatnajökull Glavier. Last eruption at this location on Vatnajökull was in 2004 and this eruption starts around one year after the famous eruption at Eyjafjallajökull. Atlantsflug will be providing flight up to the eruption area during the eruption.
